You have to remember that your relationship with your companion is a "mutual" relationship. You don't really control your companions (abeit we do give you some commands for playability).

Your relationship with your wolf is even more of a "I'm here cuz I wanna be" type thing than it is with your raccoon. As you accquire higher, more intelligent companions with increased abilities, you will have less and less command of them (this is the balance).

I would hope we realize my dream of a companion who is your friend, but will kick your butt if you get out of line with them. But that is way down the line and I don't know if I'll ever see it.

Anyway, I wander from the topic...because you aren't really supposed to be "in charge" of your companion, I don't know how willing Smitty would be to add the ability to command the wolf to search. Part of the balance (yeah I know you guys are tired of hearing that) of it searching out people, it that it has a mind of its own and does it when it wants to. It shouldn't be searching out Rangers however, if it is, you need to let me know that.
