Barbarian's Guild News
1-12-00 Construction teams and planners have finally finished their work, revealing the newly renovated Barbarian Forge in the town of Riverhaven! The Barbarian's Guild has decreed that this forge will be open only to its members, to allow for weaponsmiths to work their skill without the distraction of laughing at the efforts of mana-users. Enjoy!
1-25-00 Minor bug fix - DANCE BEAR and DANCE PANTHER, when typed in a room containing a bear critter/familiar or a panther familiar, were defaulting to having you dance mockingly around the animal rather than perform the Battle Dance of the same name. DANCE BEAR and DANCE PANTHER now "default" to the Barbarian Dance instead. The downside of this is that you will no longer be able to dance mockingly around these particular fingerwaggling accoutrements, so you'll just have to think of other ways to express your scorn!
2-15-00 Bug Fix -- Tonight, through the efforts of all 4 Barbarian GMs, we were able to pin down a longstanding bug with full inner-fire Berserks.
Previously, if you saw that your health had dropped below envigorated during a full inner-fire Berserk - there was absolutely no way to survive. It is now possible to recover enough vitality (through either natural or empathic means) to remain alive at the end of a full-powered Berserk.
Again, this only affects full inner-fire Berserks. All others remain exactly the same.
2-28-00 DESCRIBE -- By popular request, Barbarians now have the ability to DESCRIBE other Barbarians. This will allow a Barbarian to determine what Dance, if any, another Barbarian is currently performing. To successfully DESCRIBE another Barbarian, you must either know the Dance yourself, or be of a sufficient circle. Enjoy!
5-12-00 A vision shared by one of the noted Barbarian scribes of Shard: "A thunderous roar of fury and bloodlust rumbled from all around me, a cloud of dark ash suddenly shadowing the light of day. The cloud swiftly expanded into the shape of a tremendous dragon, its bearing infused with a rage and a power unimaginable. For a long moment it hung in the air over all the islands, far to the east, challenging even the morning sun with its strength before fading into the breeze, leaving only echoes of its tremendous cry of war ringing in my ears. Never before have I felt such a call to battle, and forever would I search the lands to feel it again."
5-19-00 Dragon Dance is now available for all Barbarians of sufficient circle to learn. Enjoy!
7-18-00 Barbarian and Bard teams announce collective squashing of a really nasty bug. The standing problem between Barb Dances and Bard (combat related) Enchantes is repaired! No more will the mighty Barb's effectiveness be turned into mush, all those who enjoy the benefits of the Rage and the Tears rejoice! Special thanks to GM Veyl for helping us see the light on this one.
9-1-00 New for the Guild! Barbarians will now be able to demonstrate their strength and presence through a hearty handshake, grasping forearms like true warriors. To give or return these handshakes well, make sure your strength is up to the test!
In addition, a whole slew of new pretitles are being released for the Guild, with one or two (or three!) new choices for almost every level bracket! There will be discussions in the Barbarian Topic on the Message Boards about the meaning and significance of several of the titles, so be sure to read up if you're curious!
Be sure to keep your eyes open (both in this news article and on the message boards) for *another* new ability coming soon -- just make very certain that your voices are in good shape! <g>
9-6-00 The Roar of Kaith'Audru has just gone live and is on a one week Premium Preview! You'll have to do some experimentation to figure out its different effects and how best to use it in combat. If used correctly, it can be an extraordinarily potent weapon, but if it's used incorrectly it can get you and your hunting party killed. To learn it, you first must be 20th circle, and you'll need to visit one of the Dance Masters....one which you may or may not have visited before. Please venture to the Barbarian Topic on the Message Boards for discussion of this new ability.
Also made live this evening: varied bug fixes to DANCE -- cleaning up all of the hiding/unhiding problems (along with some other bugs that you may or may not have noticed), and some cosmetic improvements and additional functionality to the Roar verb as a whole. No, there have been no changes to the 3 basic Barbarian Roars, although you may get some more information that will help you use them effectively.
Be clever, and enjoy
9-13-00 The Roar of Kaith'Audru is now available for everyone to learn! Enjoy!
